Consulate Events

On Saturday in Vancouver one hundred people took the oath of Hungarian citizenship, and a further three hundred took part in a commemoration event for the 1848 Revolution.

Some of the long time members of the Vancouver Hungarian community spent a lively evening together, socializing and getting to know Zsuzsanna Répás, the Deputy Minister of Hungarian Diaspora Relationships and the new Hungarian Ambassador of Ottawa, H. E. Dr. László Pordány.

The Hungarian Society held a special event on the 23th of October to commemorate the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. The Hungarian Society Theater Group performed the Szerelmem, Magyar Katalin theater piece written by Zsolt Pozsgay.

In Vancouver, BC there were two occassions in October and in November respectively when Hungarians had the chance to submit in person their applications for the citizenship in the Hungarian Cultural Society, organized by the Honorary Consulate in Vancouver and conducted by the Embassy of Hungary in Ottawa.
